The New Jersey Educational Computing Cooperative - NJECC (www.njecc.org) is excited to announce that the request for presentation submission form is now available for educators who want to share with other educators all of the wonderful educational technology projects and activities that they are doing with their students at the 2020 NJECC Annual Statewide EdTech Conference on January 14th, 2020 (http://www.njecc.org/conference/) . Hello everyone,
I am pleased to invite you to the New Jersey Future Educators Association (NJFEA) Conference at Montclair State University on Monday, January 9, 2017. This event will be held in University Hall, 7th Floor, 1 Normal Avenue, Montclair, New Jersey, 07043, between 9:00 a.m.-2:15 p.m. We have planned an exciting day of activities, speakers, and break-out sessions.
This conference is sponsored for students in grades 9-12 who aspire to become future teachers. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students must be registered and accompanied to this conference by a high school faculty member or NJFEA adviser. Each high school is invited to bring 15-20 future teachers. Please register students for two break-out sessions. Break-out Session 1 is from 10:30-11:20 a.m., and Break-out Session 2 is from 11:30 a.m.-12:20 p.m.
Advisers are invited to attend a special workshop from 10:30-11:20 a.m. You will be advised about the room location during the third week of December. Advisers do not need to register for this session.
There is no charge for attending this conference. A complimentary lunch will be provided. Dress is smart casual (which means neat and comfortable). Information about travel directions and parking at Montclair State University will be sent to advisers during the third week of December.

NJ School of Conservation Teaching Scholar Program: Biodiversity Field Methods

COST: FREE Scholarships will be funded by National Geographic and Montclair State University. Scholarships include all meals, on-site lodging and educational resources.
This five-day summer professional development workshop for middle school teachers will focus on an extended hands-on experience in assessing ecosystem biodiversity. Teachers will work alongside academic researchers and professional scientists to identify flora and fauna in the forest, stream and lake ecosystems in and around the NJ School of Conservation (NJSOC) within Stokes State Forest. Teachers will learn field methods and improve their content knowledge in biology, ecology, and environmental science. Teachers will contribute to a NJSOC Bioblitz event scheduled to coincide with the workshop, allowing teachers to utilize the concept and curriculum materials for National Geographic’s and iNaturalists’s Bioblitz program. The concluding activity will be for the workshop participants to translate their newly developed skills to their classroom, school and local community by creating a lesson or unit plan that applies workshop learning. Registration is Open!
The Center of Pedagogy and CEHS Career Services at Montclair State University invite you to attend their annual Educators’ Exchange career fair on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.
This event provides a valuable resource for your organization as you will have the opportunity to interact with and screen potential hires. In addition, students will gain real-life interview and job search experience. Your organization will be assigned a table to set up displays, distribute handouts, and speak to student teachers and alumni who are actively seeking employment.
Registration is free of charge to all the Montclair State University Network for Educational Renewal (MSUNER) member school districts. This event will take place from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm in the University Hall Conference Center. Lunch and parking will be provided.
MSUNER members are eligible for priority registration. Last year we reached capacity for this event. Since registration for all districts will open up in January, register soon to reserve your spot.

Theater of the Oppressed (T.O.) is a form of popular community-based education that uses theater as a tool for political and social change. I wanted to send a quick note to fill you in on something terrific for teens and hopefully YOU!
In our efforts to increase teen programming that promotes self esteem, life skills, leadership and social responsibility, we will be offering youth ages 12-17 a “workshop series” entitled Social Society. We wanted to give youth the opportunity to not only meet required service hours for school, but to learn and grow along the way. We plan on teaching them about AmeriCorps, Peace Corps and Rotary International as well.
They will earn time for attending the workshops, but more importantly we want to connect them with their community (you!).
If you could use some extra hands for special events, projects, envelope stuffing, handing out flyers and so on won’t you please take a moment and let me know if you would be interested in volunteers and in what capacity?
As we all know, volunteers play key roles in the success of many things-locally and globally. I am sure we can also agree that encouraging them during their younger years to understand the importance of social responsibly has a better chance of staying with them in their “older” years.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Additionally, please feel free to share this with friends, co-workers, etc from our service area (Clifton, Bloomfield, Cedar Grove, Verona and Montclair).

Jumpstart For a Day is an annual festival celebrating
literacy and family engagement in the communities that we serve. Jumpstart
MSU is partnering with the YMCA of Newark on their Healthy Kids Day. This is one
of Jumpstart's biggest events where local organizations and families of the
Newark community come together for a full day of festivities. There will be fun and exciting activities that children and their families can enjoy!
