This graduate "teaching writing" certificate program is offered by full-time English Department faculty who specialize in composition/rhetoric. It has been designed to provide secondary-level classroom teachers with additional grounding in best practices in writing pedagogy and assessment, as well as relevant theories and research about writing. This program is a response to a need articulated many times by classroom teachers--that writing instruction is often an arena in which they find themselves in need of greater support and training.
