Title: Strategies that Work for English Language Learners

Dates: January 22 & 29, 2013   4-7 pm

Location: Central Middle School, 1620 Route 46 West, Room 403, Parsippany, NJ 07054

Instructor: Noreen Drucker, Former ESL Teacher, NJTESOL-NJBE Executive Board member

Description:

This course is designed for anyone who works with English Language Learners- ESL teachers, classroom teachers, special area teachers and special education teachers. This interactive, highly participatory program will provide you with activities and ideas  that you can repeatedly implement by simply changing the content to engage the students.

The four domains of language instruction- speaking, reading, writing and listening, will be addressed through cooperative learning activities and other  strategies designed to involve all the students in your class.

We will explore the needs of the ELLs and how best to meet those needs, thus putting theory into practice.

Best suited for elementary and middle school teachers, but can easily be adapted for other grade levels.
