TITLE: Reducing Classroom Behavior Problems and Power Struggles

INSTRUCTOR- Michael Paternoster, M.A. Counseling, Director of Special Services for 18 years


This workshop will look at the causes of behavior and the value of depersonalizing our involvement with behavior. There will be discussion on consequences, empowering bystanders and victims, 'positivity', praise, resiliency, school cultures and therapeutic strategies. There will be two role playing behavior scenarios that the group will examine. The workshop will refer to 'Positive Discipline' by Jane Nelson and several current books- 'Flourish' by Seligman, 'Social' by Lieberman, 'Hold Onto Your Kids' by Neufeld and 'Brainstorm (The Power and Purpose of the Teenage Brain)' by Daniel Siegel, M.D..

Note- This is not a workshop regarding behavior strategies for students with autism.
