TITLE: Reducing Behavior Problems (Part 2) Through Positive Connections

DATE: July 15, 2015

TIME: 4:00-7:00 PM

LOCATION: Passaic Valley High School, 100 East Main Street, Little Falls, NJ 07424 (Library)

INSTRUCTOR: Michael Paternoster

This workshop is a sequel for those who have attended my workshop in the past. It will also be appropriate for any newcomers. We will review “understanding” the causes of behavior, but emphasize classroom “connections” and positive contagion. We will discuss some “group counseling” techniques in dealing with behavior and power struggles. We will look at rejection and “how good people turn evil”. We will discuss the books, “Social” by Matt Lieberman, “The Lucifer Effect” by Philip Zimbardo, and ”The Honest Truth about Dishonesty” by Dan Ariely (Duke University). There will be at least two behavior problem role playing scenarios generated by group interest.

Note- This is not a workshop regarding behavior strategies for students with autism.

Presenter- Michael Paternoster, M.A. Counseling, Director of Special Services for 18 years
