TITLE: Strategies for Mentoring and Coaching

This mini-course is designed for new Clinical Faculty members, but is open to all who are interested, especially those who will be assuming supervisory roles or taking on a student teacher. Topics include an overview of the MSU Teacher Education Program, the Portrait of a Teacher, exploration of the meaning of mentoring and coaching, an introduction to clinical supervision including feedback and conferencing, an examination of various dimensions of the cooperating teacher-junior faculty member relationship, co-teaching strategies, and sharing the wisdom of practice.
This mini-course fulfills the MSUNER requirement for Mentoring. Limit 20 participants.
NOTE: This is an ONLINE mini-course. It does not meet for face to face classes. Instead, using the Canvas Learning Management System, students will work asynchronously with professor guidance through the course over a four week period, totaling approximately six hours of work. There will be small assignments to complete each week. All assignments need to be completed to get PD credit for the course.
