Standards-based mentoring provides the support new teachers need to become highly skilled, committed, and caring professionals. The MSUNER Mentor Institute will provide mentors with the tools to succeed in mentoring teachers during the provisional year.Institute topics include:Guiding Principles of InductionRole of the MentorNew Jersey Professional Standards for TeachersFive Phases of First Year TeachingSupport and Assessment StrategiesMentoring Conversation ProtocolFeedback and Conferencing: A Reflective ModelStrategic Coaching ConversationsObservation: Data Collection Tools and Analysis of Data*The topics covered in the Institute are aligned with the NJ Professional Development Standards and Professional Standards for Teachers.
