This six-hour mini course is geared to teachers and administrators of all grade levels. It will give participants a clear understanding of what formative assessment looks like in the classroom as well as its importance in the overall context of student learning. Participants will:1. Learn the five key areas of formative assessment.a. Importance of stating the day’s learning objectivesb. Questioning for understandingc. Eliciting feedback to monitor and adjust instructiond. Developing the self-directed learnere. Cooperative assessments2. Experience and practice formative assessment techniques3. Gain an understanding of the philosophical underpinnings of formative assessments4.
