TITLE: Facilitating Productive Classroom Talk: Strategies and Techniques for Teachers

The purpose of this course is to introduce strategies and techniques for facilitating productive classroom talk and to
provide practitioners with opportunities to practice these strategies and techniques. Participants will learn how to (1)
develop contestable questions using both fiction and non-fiction texts (2) engage students in productive inquiry and (3) develop and incorporate pre- and post-discussion activities that enhance the discussions and further promote argument literacy. This mini-course is appropriate for teachers of all grade levels.
