Course: Culturally Responsive Teaching: Examining Class, Race, and Gender in the Classroom

Description: Together we will explore the concepts and techniques of culturally responsive classroom practices. Through hands-on activities and inquiry, teachers will acquire strategies for addressing issues concerning class, race and gender in the classroom. Projects may include the Equality Mobile, Dialogue Groups, Silent Conversations, Gallery Writing and the Circle of Power. Readings will be drawn from expert sources in the field including Lisa Delpit, Peggy McIntosh, Beverly Daniel Tatum, and Bill Ayers.
Suggested grade levels: P-12.
