Together we will explore the concepts and techniques of culturally responsive classroom practices. Through hands-on activities and inquiry, teachers will acquire strategies for addressing issues concerning class, race and gender in the classroom. Projects may include the Equality Mobile, Dialogue Groups, Silent Conversations, Gallery Writing and the Circle of Power. Philosophy on culturally responsive teaching will be drawn from expert sources in the field including Lisa Delpit, Peggy McIntosh, Beverly Daniel Tatum, Bill Ayers, and others. *Fulfills the MSUNER requirement for Culturally Responsive Teaching.Culturally Responsive Teaching is a two session mini course. The course will meet on March 18 and 25, 2010, 4:00 to 7:00 pm.You must attend both sessions in their entirety to receive professional development hours from the MSUNER.Registration for this course is closed.The mini course, Exploring Issues of Diversity, also meets the MSUNER requirement for Culturally Responsive Teaching. This course meets on March 8 &15, 4-7:00pm in Randolph. Go to the course listed under events to register.
