Please join us on Monday, April 25th (5:30 to 7:30 pm) for an entertaining presentation by Dr. Lawrence Baldassaro on his recently published book, “Beyond DiMaggio: Italian Americans in Baseball.”
Author Baldassaro (Professor Emeritus of Italian at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) discusses his comprehensive study of Italian Americans in baseball, the biographical narratives of some of the most prominent and colorful players, as well as a social history of the evolution of American perceptions toward those of Italian descent who contributed so very much to the game. Baldassaro brings "a great deal of affection and merriment to his storytelling," the result of a decade's worth of interviews with and about these Italian American figures in the field.
Program will be held at the newly renovated Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center, 8 Quarry Road, Little Falls, NJ (On the campus of MSU).
